He brings a steady presence, creative vision, and deep sense of service to his role as one of our guides. He shares the same rich heritage as his family, tracing his lineage to a famed Texas Ranger and Comanche bloodlines. That legacy of resilience, stewardship, and respect for the land quietly informs how Stetson moves through both wild spaces and community.
Stetson began emergency response training early, joining Denton CERT at just 14 years old, and has continued to follow a path of service ever since. He has worked in Air Force ROTC, honoring a strong family tradition of Air Force service. His uncle retired from the U.S. Air Force, and both of his grandparents served during the Vietnam conflict, a lineage that instilled discipline, humility, and commitment from an early age.
Stetson is also the proud handler of our featured paddle dog, Skye, whose adventurous spirit and photogenic charm have captured well over a million page views. Together, they’ve become a familiar and much-loved sight on our trips.
Photography has long been part of Stetson’s world. He has studied the craft for years alongside his mother, Ericca, our Founder, developing a deep appreciation for light, detail, and storytelling through images. This year marked a personal milestone as he turned his focus toward macro photography, exploring the hidden textures and small wonders that often go unnoticed in nature.
Stetson has accompanied our Founder on numerous explorations across Florida, paddling iconic waters such as Weeki Wachee, the bioluminescent lagoons of Cocoa Beach, Pensacola National Seashore, and the crystal-clear springs of Ginnie Springs. Closer to home, he has fully embraced local paddle trails, and chances are you may have shared the water with him at Lake Murray State Park, Lake Ray Roberts State Park at Johnson Branch, or several of our other favorite routes.
Grounded, creative, and quietly adventurous, Stetson guides with intention, curiosity, and a deep respect for both people and place.
